Unite Your Stakeholders

Here’s a great tip for any vacation rental business looking to build their brand, get to know their clients better, and have fun all at the same time. In this example, we did it to encourage progressive VR professionals to join our Inner Circle community.

Step 1: Rent out a really cool place in town for the evening and get it catered with some delicious food and drinks. In this example, the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO).

Step 2: Invite a group of people who mean a lot to your business in one way or another. They could be former guests, potential property owners, angry neighbors, local business owners, competitors, government officials…etc. In this case, Inner Circle members.

Step 3: Hire a great videographer to document the event and ask a few people to jump on camera and share some heartfelt words. (If you don’t know a videographer, post an ad on Craigslist )

Step 4: Have some kind of structured conversation about the role vacation rentals in our respective lives. *Bonus points if you have this conversation transcribed.

Step 5: Then share the video with everyone who attended and post it on your website and social media accounts. Here’s another great example if you need ideas.

Result: The power of connectivity in a fragmented industry works wonders for everyone involved. Thanks to everyone who was part of this event!

  1. You’re a genius and very clever with your
strategy in creating a very interesting environment to meet and network, and celebrate the members of the Inner Circle.
It was a pleasure meeting you there in person . Matt. ?

    1. Aww, you’re too sweet. Thanks for coming and thanks for bring such great energy!

  2. Love it! I saw so many people in the video whom I have met and are my friends in the industry!

Well done video, Matt. The vision, the execution, and the delivery are exceptional!

  3. Thanks Matt.. we’re just getting into this now… video and social media are our #1 goals for 2017, this was a nice reminder for us to keep going.

    1. Sounds great! Are you going to do some mini documentary style stuff around Medellin?

      1. We started a kind of Colombian lifestyle / real estate investment youtube channel with one of our company partners (who has since gone full time youtuber) which pumps out great content for us, but also internally we are working on a similar style of video for events we hold in our head offices here in Medellin. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCx4BO6OJ478i8i1QwDMxsSA

  4. This is SO good, Matt! Loved seeing so many faces that I know, and sorry I had to miss it. You must be so proud of these people and your own amazing accomplishments in bringing us all together. I’m so happy to be a part of the Inner Circle! This a beautiful testimonial!

    1. I totally teared up a few times watching this video. It really is just so amazing to watch people reinventing their lives and on their own terms. Way inspiring stuff!

      1. That’s exactly what I was imagining! It would be hard not to get watery. I can’t think of a better accomplishment in life – when you see a dream become a thriving reality. I suspect the Inner Circle has gone beyond your original expectations.

  5. What a fantastic video showcasing a small slice of our Inner Circle community. It is all because of YOU, our fearless vacation rental marketing leader, bringing this group of international and professional vacation rental owners and managers together, creating our inner circle community of growth. I so PROUD to be a part of the VRMB Inner Circle.

    1. And we are so PROUD to have YOU! Something I’ve learned in Casco Viejo is that community is not about one person or one side…it’s a two way street…it requires both sides (the individual and the collective whole) to see one anothers’ goals and point of view. Really honored to be learning this stuff in real time with people I care about greatly!

  6. I see some inner circle pins and is this the debut of the inner circle branding/logo or did I miss something?

  7. Hey Matt! Doing something like this is awesome in the first place, and to have such a well-shot, well put together video to showcase it is next level. Any chance you’d share a bit more about how you found the local videographer? Craigslist can be a real adventure… also, did they edit it too, or was that someone else? Thanks for posting and excited to see what’s next!
